Professional Services
Physicians
- medically required services of General Practitioners and Specialists
are paid under an approved schedule of fees
- patients are free to choose the physician of their choice
and physicians are free to choose their patients (they are not
obligated to treat any insured person)
Optometrists
The following services rendered by an optometrist for persons
up to the age of 19 and over 65 or recipients of the Alberta Widow
Pension who are under age 19 and over age 65 and their dependent
children:
- 1 annual routine vision exam
- diagnosis and treatment of eye disease and injuries
Chiropractors
- services to a maximum of $12.66 per visit
- limit of $200 per benefit period (July 1 - June 30) per individual
- x-ray provision of $20.95 for each disability
Osteopaths
Podiatrists
- $250 per benefit period (July 1 - June 30) per individual
Physiotherapists
- services through Regional Health Authorities, on a basis of
assessed need
