Drug Care
Pharmaceuticals - In Hospital
All residents are eligible for coverage which includes 100% of drugs prescribed and administered while an inpatient.
Pharmaceuticals - Out of Hospital
(Or in Hospital when visit solely for Administration of drugs)
Full payment for Pharmacare benefits are made on behalf of the following groups:

all residents of licensed care facilities within the province, regardless of age or financial situation

individuals who hold a valid Human Resources Medical Benefits program care, and their dependents

Aids drugs, free of charge through St. Paul's hospital.
Partial reimbursement of Pharmacare benefits on behalf of the following groups:

all British Columbians 65 years of age or over are required to make 100% of the dispensing/professional fees, up to a maximum payment of $200/calendar year
-
all other residents have 70% of eligible costs reimbursed after the first $800 per family unit to a maximum annual amount of $2,000
Medical Supplies

cost of the lower cost drugs where alternatives exist, prescribed by your doctor, dentist or podiatrist can be claimed

costomy supplies
-
designated permanent prosthetic appliances
-
diabetic syringes
How to Claim
For fully-paid benefits, you need not make any special claim since your pharmacy is reimbursed directly by Pharmacare.
For partial reimbursement, you must keep Pharmacare receipts for all eligible items and prescriptions purchased. If the total for you and your dependents comes to more than the annual deductible, just ask the Pharmacist for a claim form.
Out of Province (drugs)
Pharmacare does not provide reimbursement for prescriptions
purchased outside the province of BC including mail order
prescriptions.
